Our Name

Some historians think that the origin of the name "Cyprus" came about from the name of copper as сyprium, as Cyprus was one of the first excavators of this precious metal.

Aphrodite's Birthplace

According to the popular legend Aphrodite emerged from the sea when she was born. The place of her birth is marked by a rock. Swimming there gives you good luck and beauty.

Pentadaktylos Mountain; the mountain of Five Fingers

One legend has it that a particular hero of Cyprus, Diyenis Akritas, leapt right across the to save the island from invading Saracens and when he landed his hand print was forever embedded in the soil and the Five Finger mountains formed from this hand print.
